Jill is a Principal of IWJ Law, having joined in 2000 as an associate from the Vancouver office of a national law firm. Jill has extensive experience working with senior executives and their boards in the areas of strategic planning and implementation, corporate governance, venture capital, investment fund management, lending and mergers and acquisitions. Jill’s legal expertise includes public market investment management, securities registrant regulation and compliance. Jill brings a breadth of experience advising her clients on the business, legal and regulatory issues that arise with the formation, management and operation of public and private investment funds and associated corporate finance and corporate governance matters.

Jill’s clients include some of the largest retail venture capital funds in Canada, as well as mutual funds and limited partnerships operating across Canada and their respective executive management teams. Jill has served as corporate secretary for one of these public funds for the past 11 years being a proactive resource to the board and taking a leading role in governance by providing advice and counsel on board responsibilities, strategy and logistics.

Jill obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1997. Prior to attending law school, Jill received a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of British Columbia.

Jill is active in the Vancouver community having spent the last three years on the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice organizing committee for the Gift of Time Gala and previous to this role spent six years on the organizing committee for B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation’s ChildRun.  Jill is also extremely active as a parent taking on numerous parent leadership roles in her two daughters’ school and is a past director of the Association of Women in Finance.
