Dayna is a Principal of IWJ Law and has over 20 years of experience working with clients in the areas of corporate governance, institutional venture capital, lending, private equity and mergers and acquisitions.

Dayna works with a range of corporate clients, including acting as counsel to angel, institutional venture capital and private equity investors on hundreds of local and cross border financing transactions involving hundreds of millions of dollars in aggregate. Dayna also acts as counsel to purchasers, corporations being sold and investors in those corporations in the acquisition of numerous privately held and venture backed companies by strategic acquirers or private equity funds. She is also frequently retained by corporations or their shareholders to assist with drafting shareholders’ agreements and share rights.

Dayna’s particular strengths lie in her ability to draft and work through complex formulas and think “outside the box” to solve problems, legal or otherwise.  Dayna’s clients also value her pragmatic approach to the practice of law.

Dayna obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1997.  Prior to attending law school graduated from Queen’s University with a B.A. with Honours.

Dayna presents at and has co-chaired courses and seminars for CLE (Continuing Legal Education) and the Canadian Bar Association on the topics of shareholders’ agreements as well as elements of private corporate finance.  In 2018 Dayna was responsible for the creation of and co-chaired CLE’s “Financing the Tech Start-up”.

Dayna is a current member and former board member and treasurer of the Kiwanis Club (Vancouver) and for six years was a member of the organizing committee for ChildRun, a successful fun run which raises funds for the oncology department of B.C. Children’s Hospital.
